This can lead to bowel problems and constipation. Ketogenic diet also causes your body to lose sodium and other electrolytes in the urine due to reduction in insulin. This can cause keto flu and in severe cases can lead to seizures, coma, and even death.

Generally, people suffering from type 1 diabetes, kidney damage, or are at a risk of heart disease, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not try it. The diet requires a total revamping of your eating habits and patterns which you should consider before moving to it. It is known to show positive health benefits in people following it but the results may vary from person to person. Consulting your doctor is the best advice before shifting to a ketogenic diet.
